Frequently Asked Questions

We know you’re thinking it, so we’re here to answer all your lingering questions!

No, we’re not mind readers, these are just the questions everyone asks, so we wanted to beat you to it!

We’ve been on the Athens Yoga & Athens Pilates scene for a long time, so nothing will surprise us!

First up, variety! Yes, change is a good thing, and even if you like routine, it’s important to know what’s available and when.

Q: What types or styles of Yoga & Pilates do you offer?

A: For Yoga, we offer flow classes, stretch classes, power classes, restorative classes, Iyengar Yoga, and Rocket Yoga. For Pilates, all of our classes are taught on the Pilates Reformer and include our Therapeutic Reformer, Reformer, and Power Refofmer classes. There’s truly something for everyone. Check out the list of classes below grouped by level of physical intensity to find the right class for you to try next.

  • Relaxing: Simply Stretch, Slow Flow, and Yoga for Deep Relaxation classes are all perfect if you’re looking to release tension, improve mobility, and find some inner calm.

  • Relaxing Plus a bit of a Challenge: Our Iyengar, Flow & Align, and Flow classes are just the right amounts of effort and ease. Therapeutic Reformer Pilates and Reformer Pilates classes will help you build strength without pain. • Relaxing Plus a Sweat: Power Reformer Pilates, Power Flow, and Rocket Yoga are all designed to help get you out of your head and into your body in an invigorating workout. Expect to break a sweat and have fun.

Q: I’m on the introductory membership. What do I have access to and where can I see all the current classes available on the schedule?

A: If you’re on our 2 Weeks of Unlimited Yoga New Member Special, you have access to take as many of our regular group yoga classes as you’d like either in-studio or via livestream. If you’re on one of our 3 Pilates Classes New Member Specials, you have access to any of our group Reformer Pilates classes. Be sure to register online ahead of time to make sure that we’ve saved a space for you. Private lessons and workshops can be added on individually. We’d love to help you dive deeper into mindful movement and can help you figure out a plan that’s right for you during your wellness consult.

Q: What times are your classes?

A: We offer plenty of classes to work around your schedule whether you’re an early bird, love a midday sweat session, or want to swing by after work. And we’ve also got plenty of options for our weekend warriors! You can find all our class times as well as info on our instructors here.

Q: Speaking of instructors, what are their qualifications?

A: Our amazing team of instructors are highly qualified and passionate about sharing the practice of mindful movement. Most of our instructors have over 1000 hours of experience teaching, and all of our yoga instructors were trained in a Yoga Alliance certified teacher training. We know that the best students make the best teachers, and we’re always learning so that we can honor the roots of both Yoga & Pilates. Our instructors have trained with internationally known experts including the Iyengar family, Christina Sell, Rolf Gates, and Sianna Sherman. As a studio and a school, we trace our yoga lineage back to Krishnamacharya through both B.K.S. Iyengar and K. Patthabi Jois. As a Pilates studio, we trace our lineage through the internationally respected Balanced Body training program. We are so, so passionate about the way that yoga and Pilates make the world a better place, and we’re excited to share everything we know with you!

Q: What if I go out of town or have to move? Can I pause or stop my membership?

A: We offer flexible membership terms to fit your life/travel schedule (our studio owner and fearless leader, Lindsey, is passionate about travel and thinks we all need more vacation!). 4-month and 12-month memberships are available. If you move or experience a major medical event, we’ll pause or stop your membership, no questions asked.

Q: What are other options in addition to memberships?

A: We are a membership-based studio, but we do offer drop-in classes and 10 class passes for group classes. Private lessons and workshops can be booked individually or as part of a membership. We know that everyone’s wellness goals are different and would love to help you figure out what plan is the best fit for your goals, budget, and schedule.

Q: What if my body makes noises?

A: Y’all. This is seriously one of the most frequent questions we get asked, so please don’t be embarrassed if it had crossed your mind too. Yoga helps aid digestion, and we all have some creaks and pops in our bodies. Know that being in a body is a shared human experience and that you’ll be in a judgement-free zone.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Yoga and Pilates isn’t a fashion show at Five Points Yoga & Pilates for the People, and you don’t have to dress a certain way to “fit in.” Come in clothes that are comfortable for you that allow you to move. Sometimes we’re upside down or on our hands and knees, so we recommend wearing closer fitting bottoms (as a community, we’re close, but not that close!). Also, if you’d like to strut your fashionista self on your mat like it’s a runway, knock yourself out. We’re here for that too.

Q: Have more questions we didn’t cover here?

We’re not afraid, hit us with your best shot! Call or text us at 706-355-3114 and chat with one of our super welcoming team members.

Q: You mentioned putting a membership on hold. How does that work?

Based on your membership terms, your membership payment is skipped and scheduled payments are moved to a new date based on the end of the hold period. It’s like you enter the twilight zone and the time that your membership is on hold never happened.
